If the size and profitability of a company are to grow impressively and unabatedly through troubled times, It’s probably going to be involved in some sort of niche business less susceptible to general market trends. That’s certainly the case with Melbourne Performance Centre (MPC).
Our niche is building, maintaining, transporting and supporting racing cars for gentlemen racers from all walks of life. Every year since our inception in 2004, our company has continued to grow and prosper.
Driving a racing car is challenging and enjoyable, however Melbourne Performance Centre exists because track time only accounts for the smallest proportion of the time and effort needed to field a competitive car. Our clients don’t have that sort of spare time, so this is where Melbourne Performance Centre takes over all the behind the scenes work. At any time there are up to 40 superbly built and maintained cars in our workshop under the care of our professional MPC staff, including owners Lee Burley and Troy Russell.
Melbourne Performance Centre commenced operation when Lee was a mechanic, fabricating performance components and fittings for fast track and high performance road cars at a business where Troy was renting space for a few customer cars he was already maintaining. Their combination of skills and talent along with the need for more space, led to the inception of MPC.
Initially working from a 220 square metre factory it became apparent that this would not be big enough for the future plans of the company. With the purchase of a Mainline AWD1500 4WD dynometer an additional 180 square metre factory was obtained within the same complex not long after. With the installation of the Mainline dyno, Dynolog who are the control system for the industry leading Mainline range of dynometers sub-let space from MPC.
With this rapid expansion the need became apparent to look into larger premises which led to the current 1000 square metre facility.
